WHO WE ARE

 

The Graystone Home & School Club (HSC) is a dedicated community of parents, teachers, and administrators working together to enrich the educational experience of every student at Graystone Elementary. Through fundraising, family contributions, and community involvement, we support essential programs, provide valuable classroom resources, and create opportunities that help every child thrive.

 

Our mission is to enhance learning, strengthen connections, and build a vibrant school community. Thanks to the generosity of Graystone families, HSC funds enrichment programs such as Science, Community School of Music and Arts, Recess 101, and Project Cornerstone, as well as school assemblies, classroom supplies, library resources, technology, and safety patrol. We also bring families together through beloved traditions and events like Movie Night, Pumpkin Bust, Author Visits, Scholastic Book Fair, and Staff Appreciation.

HSC Monthly Meetings

 

The HSC manages an annual budget and any donations and profits are used toward the expenses for the various programs, events, and materials. HSC meetings are held monthly (Friday mornings) to discuss these items. All members are encouraged to attend and participate. Click here for meeting dates and info.

 

Membership

 

HSC Membership is open to all parents and guardians of Graystone students, as well as faculty and staff. There is no cost, however donations are highly encouraged during the Membership Drive.  

 

HSC FUNDED PROGRAMS

 

Through your generous donations we are able to bring many excellent supplemental programs to our students.  Your donation funds the programs below, which go beyond school district funding.

  

 

Art: Instructors from Art It Is visit classrooms monthly, offering structured art projects to teach the fundamentals of drawing, painting, and sculpting, encouraging students to explore their creative capacity.
Music: Almaden Academy of Music provides music lessons weekly that are tailored to each grade level, cultivating each student's passion for music.
Recess 101: Each day during lunch and recess – plus a weekly 30 minute class per grade, a professional coach, supported by HSC funding, guides students in organized activities and games. The focus is on instilling values such as rule adherence, fair play, inclusivity, and good sportsmanship.
Science: Mrs. Shephard brings her love of science to our students where she tailors age appropriate hands on lessons for the kids to enjoy and learn from. She facilitates hands-on labs, covering a variety of topics from Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Astronomy, Biology, and Earth Science, enriching students with scientific understanding.
Programs/Clubs: Incorporating enriching activities such as Project Cornerstone (for social-emotional learning), Safety Patrol, Emergency supply kits, Library supplies, Garden Club, and Student Council, promotes personal growth and community engagement for students.
Admin: HSC handles significant administrative aspects such as insurance, taxes, bank fees, program materials, and website management, ensuring smooth operations and a strong educational environment.
Teachers: HSC provides teachers and grade levels with dedicated expense accounts. These funds can be used for classroom necessities that directly benefit their students.
Events: On-campus events await students, including the BookFair, AntiBullying Assembly, Movie Nights, Multi-Cultural Fair, and Pumpkin Bust, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
Technology: Essential tech resources, including Front Office Scanners, Student Software, Teacher Printers, and Student Headphones, are provided to students and teachers to encourage an interactive learning environment.

 

  

BECOME AN HSC REPRESENTATIVE

 

Looking for an easy and meaningful way to get involved in your child's school community? Become a Home & School Club (HSC) Class Representative!  HSC Class Representatives help keep families informed about school events, programs, and activities while serving as a connection between classroom families and the HSC Board.

What Does an HSC Class Representative Do?

  • Attend Monthly HSC Meetings: Stay informed about upcoming events, programs, and HSC initiatives. Meetings are held on Friday mornings. Attendance is encouraged but not required.
  • Share HSC Updates: Email the monthly High 5s (meeting highlights provided by the HSC Secretary) and occasional announcements to classroom families.
  • Connect Families with the HSC: Share questions, feedback, and suggestions from classroom families with the HSC Board.
